WILDFIRE RISK ASSESSMENT AND DOCUMENTATION
Cleared. Documented. Carrier-ready.
Why Documentation Matters
If your property is in a high fire hazard severity zone, your insurance carrier is watching it. Non-renewals are up. Premiums are climbing. The FAIR Plan is becoming the only option for thousands of California homeowners who never saw it coming.
The difference between a property that stays insurable and one that does not often comes down to documentation. Not just clearing — documentation. Proof that the work was done, by someone who knows the standard, with photos and a written report your agent can actually submit.
That is what Ember Guard’s Wildfire Risk Assessment delivers.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Every assessment covers your full property against California’s defensible space zones and the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home standard — the framework the insurance industry developed to evaluate wildfire risk and determine eligibility for coverage and discounts.
We document every zone:
We photograph every condition before and after. We write a plain-English gap analysis showing what was found, what needs correction, and where your property stands against each standard. You walk away with a complete documentation package your insurance agent can submit directly to your carrier.
The ember-resistant zone immediately surrounding your structure. Noncombustible ground cover, vent screening, deck and fence materials, and anything within ignition distance of your home. This is the zone most homeowners miss and most carriers focus on first.
Zone 0 (0-5 feet)
Vegetation spacing, dead material removal, tree limb clearance, and surface fuel reduction around your structure.
Zone 1 (0-30 feet)
Fuel break maintenance, slope-adjusted clearance, and defensible space that gives firefighters a place to work.
Zone 2 (30-100 feet)
THE EMBER GUARD GUARANTEE
If you choose to pursue an IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home designation and the third-party evaluator identifies a deficiency in our work, we come back and correct it at no additional charge. No fine print. No exceptions. We stand behind every assessment we deliver.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR INSURANCE
If your property is in a high fire hazard severity zone, your carrier cares about this. Whether you are with a standard market carrier, have been moved to the FAIR Plan, or are trying to get coverage reinstated after a non-renewal, documented mitigation against the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home standard is exactly what underwriters are looking for.
Your documentation package gives your agent something concrete to submit. We cannot guarantee a specific discount or coverage decision — only your carrier can determine that. What we can guarantee is that your property is documented to the standard the insurance industry developed to evaluate wildfire risk.
If your agent has been telling you to document your mitigation work and you have not known where to start, this is where you start.
